Jon Handel is an artist residing in New York City. His love for photography began with the need to fill a high school elective class, an old Pentax K1000 and a few inspiring words from his mom.
His best works derive from three simple words: Shoot, shoot, shoot. Over the past five years, all of his photographs have been shot in Digital C format and taken in various cities in both the United States and Europe.
Jon’s photos focus predominantly on New York City (its neighborhoods and inhabitants), lines/angles, vivid colors, decay and human obscurity. He draws inspiration from city life, magazines, creative people, “twisted” films and cute girls.
His work has been featured in Vice Magazine, Cool’eh Magazine, New York Press, Day in the Lyfe Magazine, Gawker.com, NURTUREart – Brooklyn, NY, The National Museum of Mexican Art – Chicago, IL, Crest Art Show – Brooklyn, NY, The National Museum of Mexican Art – Chicago, IL, Grape & Grain – NY, NY, The 14th Street Y – NY, NY and C’Fizz – Brooklyn, NY.
Jon is open to interesting art-related projects and collaborations. You can reach out to him at gusto@gustoNY.com.
