I’m Kelly-Mackenzie.
I live back and forth between Albuquerque, NM and Boulder, CO.
I’m hoping to transfer from my community college to OCAC in Portland in the next year.
My grandmother taught me to sew around the same time I was given a large collection of hand-me-down G.I Joes and Barbies with mullet-like haircuts. Since most of my dolls needed clothes, I asked my grandmother if I could rummage through her fabric scrap collection. The majority of the collection was reminants from the 50’s and 60’s when she made my mum’s clothes. They were part of her large sewing kit and she kept them with no intention of ever throwing them away (once planning to make a quilt perhaps?). As a result of her kindness, I made ensembles for my dolls from patterned cotton, cream colored satin, dresses layered with tulle and lace, and little coats from cozy wool and soft velvet.
So, a decade and a half later, here I am.
I design clothes and accessories and make/renew jewelry.
I have yet to put any of my creations online.
I’ve taken quite a liking to Supermarket because it’s consistently been a place for me to find unique cards, tote bags, jewelery, and owls galore.
I’d also like to high-five all of you for doing what you do.
