What is it about the praying mantis, anyway? I can't really put my finger on it, but the feeling I get when I see one is certainly unlike when one sees a similarly sized insect of any other species.I wanted to convey the sensuality of the mantis, and this is what I came up with. This is a really large and impressive piece.I did my research, and I just couldn't find any really interesting examples of praying mantis jewelry, so this is my contribution. This piece is made of (a rather large amount of) gently antiqued .925 silver, and buffed to a high polish. The casting is done locally here in New York City. It comes with a pure silver 18 inch chain, with a high-quality silver clasp. Each of my pieces comes in a complimentary gift box.
