This clock is composed of many little curved elements - similar to the many arms of an octopus. These elements are assembled like miniature marquetry pieces.
Material: at selection of the raw materials the main principle I follow is to keep the natural appearance of the wood as much as possible - thus i use plywood, for it bears the wood grain, still strong and thin enough.Owing to this naturalness small changes in colour and pattern may occur (compared to the images attached).
Manufacturing process: the dial of this particular clock is laser cut from a single 6mm birch plywood board, the small curved internal elements are placed manually like marquetry pieces, then the finishing (polishing) is made by hand. The surface is untreated. The grain direction of the small curved elements are changing piece by piece, thus creating a special reflection effect in proper lighting conditions.
The movement: is non-ticking, runs with 1 AA size battery (not included in the package). Hands are metals in wihte or black colour. Unique plastic hands are available for extra 3USD (see last photo).
