A simple statement of winter. Two graceful birches in a snowy, white forest.
We were inspired to create this design by a night hike through snowy mountains. The striking contrast of trees against snow was breathtaking.
To make this set of flat cards, we created an original snowy birches illustration that we converted into a raised image printing plate. Next, we mixed a warm silvery grey ink and trimmed down our paper. Finally, we set up the press, inked up our rollers, registered the design and then printed each card, one-by-one using our hand-fed,100 year old Chandler & Price letterpress. Then we cleaned up the press and started the process again for the back.
The result is a perfect for your daily correspondence or a wonderfully chic update to the traditional holiday greeting.
