What, pray tell, is Micarta?
Well, Micarta is the perfect marriage of fiber and resin. I can’t tell you what the past life of this particular bit of Micarta is but I can tell you that it could have been anything from a portion of a space shuttle to a guitar fingerboard. What I do know is that I found a nice chunk of it floating in the waste stream and decided to make something pretty. There is something really beautiful about the striations that occur on the surface.
Because I only have this one piece and I can’t be guaranteed to find another anytime soon I will only be making Micarta jewelry til I run out.
These babies measure roughly 3.25"x.75" at their tallest and widest respectively.
