Jim Flora: Gene Krupa fine art print
Jim Flora Art
About
This is a limited-edition, archival-quality fine art print of a classic 1947 Jim Flora album cover illustration. Gene Krupa and His Orchestra was released on Columbia Records on a 78 rpm four-disc set. Krupa (1909-1973) was one of the premiere jazz drummers from the 1930s thru the 1950s, and in 1979 was the first inductee to the *Modern Drummer Hall of Fame.
Produced in 2008 by Flora archivist Barbara Economon, the print was meticulously and painstakingly crafted from a mint-condition artist’s proof sheet of the Krupa cover in the Jim Flora (1914-1998) collection. The image area is roughly 12" square and the trim size of the entire sheet is 13" × 19".
Only twenty (20) prints of Gene Krupa and His Orchestra were produced for this edition. Each print is hand-numbered in the lower right corner beneath the image and authenticated on the reverse with the stamped seal of Jim Flora Art LLC (a Flora family enterprise).
The unframed prints are on heavyweight (310g) mould-made William Turner stock, a natural white, 100% rag paper with a fine toothy surface manufactured by Hahnemühle, who are renowned for premium-grade archival papers. The edition was produced on an Epson 3800Pro large format printer using Epson UltraChrome K3 Pigment Ink Technology, resulting in brilliant, velvety color and offering excellent longevity and durability.
The print will ship flat, securely packaged and guaranteed against bending or dents. If it is damaged in shipment, it will be replaced.
