About
This necklace of 5 interlocking lampwork glass beads was handmade in my studio from Effetre Italian glass. It is a continuation of the exploration of pressing glass that began in my original Droplet series and which I am calling my Interlaced Droplet series. It is comprised of a glass donut bail and pressed glass circles made of transparent brown. The pendant discs are set parallel and perpendicular to the glass bail. The center bead has 3 alternating discs decreasing one disc for each bead to the sides, with a single droplet at each end. The beads were designed to sit snugly next to each other. They are well-fused and are shown here with spacers that will be included with the 5 beads in this modern and minimalist set. I am truly inspired by the possibilities in the manipulation and organization of these glass discs, and will continue this exploration to see where it leads me. The center bead is approximately 2" long, and the bib-style glasswork measures about 2 1/4" across.
The beads have been kiln annealed for longevity and cleaned with a diamond reamer. The beads were created on a 3/32" mandrel. The 16" 1mm sterling silver omega necklace shown is included in the price of the necklace.
