Culture For Sale
The third California Design Biennial is a fantasy shopping experience come true featuring consumer products, graphic design, furniture, fashion and transportation. The 90 items selected by a jury during last year’s open call for entries not only have to be beautiful or interesting to look at but also entirely functional, Jacobson-Sive says.
These examples of the best of California design were judged by a panel of experts: Gadi Amit, president of NewDealDesign in San Francisco; Laura Dye, brand and design strategist and instructor at Art Center College of Design; Lisa Love, West Coast editor of Vogue; Stewart Reed, chair of transportation design at Art Center College of Design; and Michael Worthington, co-director of the graphic design program at CalArts.

Jimi Wallet
The Jimi Wallet is a good example of less equals more. From NYT:
The Jimi Wallet does not hold as much stuff as a traditional wallet, and that is by intent. It’s a bit slimmer than a regular wallet and unfolds to reveal two compartments, one with a money clip, the other to hold credit cards. “Do Not Overload,” the instruction sheet warns, “Jimi holds five cards. . .plus three folded bills.”
“Do Not Overload.” Gotta love that.

Is This the Ultimate Biker Wallet?
Remember George Costanza? Jason Alexander’s character from “Seinfeld” had a wallet so overstuffed with junk that the term “Costanza wallet” became a way to describe a pocketbook ready to explode with receipts, cards, and other bits of personal detritus.
Motorcyclists tend to travel light, and most of us can’t afford to lug a “Costanza” around with us, so when I came across the $15 Jimi wallet I had to check it out. It’s small, it’s light, and though it doesn’t hold a whole lot, I think it’s one of the best wallets out there for bikers.
