______
Founded in 2005 by Brian Schmitt, Adrift strives to produce mobiles that add a captivating, yet quiet personality to an environment. All of the mobiles are designed and carefully crafted by Brian in his workshop in San Francisco’s SOMA district. These mobiles showcase Brian’s minimalist aesthetic, craftsmanship and interest in sustainable materials.
______
Adrift Mobiles, an eager contributor to the growing green economy, takes the following measures to minimize its environmental footprint:
• Raw materials are selected that have both visual appeal and sustainable attributes. Each design makes efficient use of these materials with only a small percentage lost in fabrication. The use of bamboo is a step towards sustainability as it is a rapidly renewable resource.
• Adrift Mobiles offsets the energy consumed in its facility through the purchase of renewable energy certificates provided by 3 Degrees Inc. (3degreesinc.com) and certified by the Green-e Renewable Energy Certification program. This purchase supports clean, renewable, wind power and prevents the emissions of over 17,000 lbs. of carbon dioxide.
• The Adrift facility is centrally located in San Francisco. This urban location creates the ability to run many errands car-free. Packaging, office supplies and hardware are just some of the supplies procured on foot.
• All boxes used for packaging are recyclable and contain recycled content. Protection within the box is provided by vegetable starch packing peanuts. These are water soluble, biodegradable and compostable.
