About k.o'brien jewelry

My jewelry line emerged slowly. I graduated in 2003 with a Bachelor's Degree in Jewelry and Metals from the University of Massachusetts at Dartmouth. I had about seven years, which I refer to as 'before craft', where I worked an office job and almost never touched my beloved tools or sheets of silver. Slowly, I found time to get my studio in order, designs started to flow in my head, my hands gravitated towards my tools and a small jewelry line came to being. From there I started to play with my enamels, introducing color to my otherwise grey palette. Other design elements soon came into play, I had vintage jewelry parts cast in silver to incorporate into my designs, giving these pieces a new life and meaning. Now my visions of new jewelry designs grow in my sketchbook while I keep busy fabricating my already established collections. I know one day those designs will find their way into metal. I wake up every day excited to see what will come next, how I will add to my collections (new enamel colors or mixing metals!) and I continually find myself in awe of just how well my jewelry is received. Thanks to social media customers I see pictures of my jewelry being worn by my beloved customers, sweet emails are sent my way thanking me for all of the compliments my customers get while wearing the jewelry I made. Even my packaging is praised! Being able to focus on my itty bitty business has been an experience more rewarding than I have words for. Thank you to all of my beloved customers and supportive friends and family, without you I wouldn't be making piles of metal dust. When I'm not making jewelry I am playing with my Bernese Mountain dog, Callie Rose. Some folks know me as Callie's mama. She has been the love of my life for 11 years and I don't know who is luckier. I am also a runner, hiker, waterfall chaser, flower lover and photo taker. My adventures on the road and trail lead me to places so rich in beauty I hardly believe my feet got me there. As I grow stronger and more confident I explore more and take this beauty and strength back to my bench to inspire my work and feel more confident in what I make and send out into the world. I capture the details of my life on the pavement and trails and share them as a journal on Instagram. Just as my jewelry line took time to come in to being, I see my photographs becoming a part of what defines me as an artist. For now, they influence which colors and textures find a way into my jewelry designs. I say for now, because I hope they become another form of my artistic expression. Thank you for being awesome and buying handmade. xo, kim

Welcome! Thank you for looking at my shop. I would love to answer any questions that you may have regarding my work and policies, feel free to send me an email at kobrienjewelry@gmail.com. I try my best to give accurate descriptions and take photos which best depict my jewelry but know colors vary slightly in person and on screen. The process of torch firing enamels doesn't allow for items to be reproduced to perfection, which is what I love about it. There may be a little speck or area which is more oxidized from the flame. That is what is great about buying handmade, you get a piece of jewelry that is unique to you and not mass produced to supposed perfection. Returns/Exchanges: Unfortunately, I can not accept refunds or exchanges as items are made to order. If you aren't happy with your order please contact me so we can try and remedy the situation. If your jewelry arrives damaged please contact me as soon as possible so I can replace your item and contact the carrier as everything I ship within the US is insured. Repairs: Should your jewelry break due to wear and tear please contact me regarding repairs. I make my pieces to be sturdy, but please don't expect them to withstand a bar brawl. Depending on the type of repair they may be a charge. Send me a photo and drop me a line to make arrangements. Please note, it is best to send both earrings back when one needs to be repaired. We want it all to match up in the end, the older one may need to be shined up again too. Shipping: I ship my jewelry via USPS with insurance (domestic sales), so the price is high but it will be safe. I am flexible, if you want another arrangement please let me know ahead of time and I will change the listing and reserve it for you. International sales ship USPS without insurance. Please note that most items have a 1-2 week fabrication time. If you want a faster shipping method or have other specific requests please contact me ahead of time and we will work to meet your needs. My work is shipped in mailers made of recycled materials and can be recycled. My jewelry boxes are also made of recycled material. Your bling is packed in anti-tarnish paper, should you decide to take your jewelry off please use this paper to store your bling in so it stays sparkly longer. Please note that I am unable to mark international orders as gifts. Please be prepared to pay the tariff or duty on our purchases. Any additional charges incurred by special requests for shipping will be paid for by the buyer. Please contact me with any further questions you may have.
