Finding pictures when there doesn't seem to be any

While scanning recent polaroids from the summer, I must often face the task of puling out an image from an otherwise black photograph.  Terrible light, expired film, and exposure errors all contribute to a good number of duds.  That is, until I get them in the scanner to see what I can adjust in order to find an image.  Of course, that also tends to exaggerate any uneven film emulsion, dust, and flaws which also exist, but that's all part of the beauty!
